The people who volunteer with New Zealand Red Cross come from all walks of life. Some wear gumboots, others carry meals or even transport people to the hospital – they are all good people doing good things. Carma is one of our wonderful members who volunteers her time and wears many hats (and gumboots!) while doing so. She grew up in Hawke’s Bay and has been involved with many areas of Red Cross. Selling pre-loved items to raise funds to do good in the community is what brought her in to the Red Cross whanau, but she quickly jumped in with both feet and got involved with our disaster response teams – one of the most demanding volunteering roles at Red Cross!
Carma is one of New Zealand Red Cross’ 11,000 members volunteering across the country doing good work every day. Without the help of our members volunteering their time, Red Cross wouldn’t be able to reach so many people across Aotearoa.
Follow Carma’s journey and learn what she does to support people in her community. Keep walking and you’ll get inspired by her story and the difference she’s making.
